‘It was agreed upon at St. Catherine’s Audit by the Chapter then holden, that the interior of the Choir of Rochester Cathedral should be restored . Mr . Cottingham being recommended to the Chapter , as an Architect well skilled in Gothic Architecture was written to, and requested to come down to Rochester and take a view of the Choir of the Cathedral, and then deliver in an estimate of the probable expense of restoring it…’
