Rochester Cathedral Graffiti Survey

The four-year photographic survey of Rochester Cathedral graffiti begun in 2016 recorded over 7,000 inscriptions from the twelfth to the twenty-first century. A series of reports featured in the Kent archaeological journey Archaeologia Cantiana in 2017, 2018 and 2019 (Scott 2017, Graham and Scott 2018, Scott 2019.

The entire photographic database is freely available online. The following sections discuss the various types of graffiti recorded and their analysis providing insight into the Cathedral and its occupants over many centuries.
