Hygrothermal measurements were taken throughout this period with four thermohygrographs and, in addition, from January to 7 April, on a daily basis, with an electronic and a whirling hygrometer. Hygrometric measurements were obtained with a moisture meter (protimeter), and by extracting core samples at various representative locations. All core samples were analysed for salts. For a better understanding of the stone decay, and also of the protimeter readings and the core sampling results, the geology of the stone was taken into consideration.
